Putting A Stamp On Your World // 10.27.2013

Dear Parents,

This Sunday, we looked at the third “global giant” in our series-extreme poverty-and its effect on the world. Most of us are truly blessed, especially when we realize that over half of the world’s population lives on less than $2 per day. Our teenagers discussed how we as Christians can help people who are less fortunate than we are. We looked at 1 John 3:14-20 as we talked about how we can impact the world.

During the week, look for an opportunity to talk with your student about ways to help people in need. Encourage your teenager to make a difference in the world by helping others. Take time to sit down and discuss how you can work as a family to help those who are less fortunate than you are, both locally and globally. Here are some questions that you could include in your conversation:

  • Why are we sometimes reluctant to help people in need? What are some of the explanations or excuses we use?
  • Is it more important to pray for people in poverty or find practical ways to address their issues? Explain.
  • What are some ways our family has provided practical support to the poor? How do we decide when our support is enough?

Take time with your teenager to pray for people around the world who are less fortunate than you are. Ask for God’s protection on them, and pray that someone will help to meet their needs both physically and spiritually!

Hope you are having a wonderful week!
