We are partnering with multiple youth ministries in the area to participate in “Kamp 2019″. We are so excited to be able to be a part of the youth of Katy coming together to seek and worship God, and just have a blast. Sign ups have begun! YAY!
Below is some information that is posted on the Kamp webpage. I will do my best to keep you updated with any other information that I become aware of, however the link is for you to have information as quickly as possible.
Kamp provides a time for students (6th-12th) to unplug and grow through worship, teaching, and small group time with their peers and leaders, as well as have a lot of fun through Rec Games and activities! Kamp will be June 3rd – 7th at Pineywoods.

- February 17- April 21- Kamp “Early Bird” Registration opens for Students $350. ($150 deposit)
- February 17- Kamp Registration opens for Leaders
- April 22– Regular Kamp Registration opens $425. ($225 deposit)
- May 19- Parent Meeting for Kamp (6:00-7:00pm in the Loft at Kingsland)
- May 19- Kamp Registration closes

2019 Rec Theme:
Our 2019 Rec Theme is based on the 12 Tribes of Israel from the Old Testament:
The Rec teams for both JH and HS will be Reuben, Simeon, Levi, Judah, Dan, Naphtali, Gad, Asher, Issachar, Zebulun, Manasseh and Benjamin.
- Reuben was the firstborn son of Israel. Reuben was the first to stand up for his brother, Joseph, when his brothers were plotting to kill him. During Israel’s last blessing on his sons, he said Reuben was his firstborn, excelling in prominence and excelling in power. However, Israel also called him as “uncontrolled as water” and the Lord did not choose him to excel as the firstborn. Reuben means “The Lord has seen my affliction”. True Story: Chris Kincaid is big fan of Reuben. For Kamo 2019 Rec, Reuben will be Red.
- Simeon was the second son of Israel. Simeon was cursed for his uncontrolled anger and cruel fury. Israel foresaw that the descendants of Simeon would be dispersed throughout all the lands of Jacob, rather than having their own tribal land. Simeon means “The Lord heard”. Fun Fact: Lindsay Osborn is a loyal Simmy fan and is ready for Sim to be the 2019 Rec Champions. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Simeon will be Kelly Green.
- Levi was the third son of Israel and was the father of the “Tribe of the Priesthood”. Levi’s descendents were ministers of the Jewish Tabernacle and Temple. Like Simeon, Levi’s descendents did not receive their own tribal land. Levi’s descendents include Moses, Aaron, and John the Baptist. Levi’s name means something along the lines of “joined in harmony” because he was the third son of Leah. Here’s a neature nugget for you: Joe Landi is secretly rooting for the Levites to win it all. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Levi will be Lime Green.
- Judah was the fourth son of Israel and was the father of the “Tribe of Kings”. Judah would ultimately become the most prominent of the 12 Tribes of Israel. Judah’s land territory included Jerusalem, the capital city and the home of the Holy Temple. Israel blessed his son Judah by saying that “The scepter will not depart from Judah, or the staff from between his feet until he whose right it is comes”. This was a foretelling of the coming of Jesus. Jesus was a descendent of Judah and was the ultimate King of the line of Judah. Other important descendants of Judah include David, Solomon, and Mary. Shannon Rodrigues is the notable KSM Staffer rooting for Judah. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Judah will be Navy Blue.
- Dan was the fifth son of Israel. Dan means “God has vindicated me”. In his blessing, Israel said that Dan would judge his people as one of the tribes of Israel. One notable descendent of Dan’s Tribe is Samson. Curtis Lane splits his loyalty between Dan and Gad. If this is your tribe, get Curtis to help you with your chant! For Kamp 2019 Rec, Dan will be Brown.
- Naphtali was the sixth son of Israel, the middle child. Naphtali means “I have wrestled”. Not much is said about Naphtali, but the tribe of Naphtali is mentioned in Isaiah 9 when Isaiah prophecies about the birth of Jesus. Joe Carollo loves Naphtali … it may or may not be because they are the pink team. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Naphtali will be pink.
- Gad was the seventh son of Israel and his name means “What good fortune”. In Israel’s blessing he said, “Gad will be attacked by raiders but he will attack their heels”. Gad’s Tribe settled east of the Jordan. Fun Fact: This is Curtis Lane’s favorite Tribe. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Gad will be Orange.
- Asher was the eighth son of Israel and his name means “happy”. Israel blessed Asher by saying that his “food would be rich and he would enjoy royal delicacies”. The tribe of Asher went on to inhabit a land in easter Galilee, a region famous for its olive groves. Plot Twist: Asher is David Goggin’s favorite rec team. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Asher will be Baby Blue.
- Issachar was the ninth son of Israel and his name means “God rewarded me”. In Israel’s blessing, he said Issachar would have a good resting place, a land that was pleasant. However, he also foresaw that he would become a “forced laborer”. Important Note: Kayla Self loves Issachar and thinks you should too. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Issachar will be Gray.
- Zebulun was the tenth son of Israel and the last son of Leah. Zebulun’s tribe is noteworthy for being loyal and fierce fighters during the reign of King David and the era of the judges. 1 Chronicles 12 tells us that the tribe of Zebulun had the most soldiers fighting to win Kingship for David and that they fought for him with an undivided heart. Israel said that Zebulun would live “by the seashore and be a harbor for ships”. True Story: Chris Kincaid is the biggest fan of Zeb. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Zeb will be Purple.
- Manasseh: Israel’s eleventh son, Joseph, received the birthright from his father, and instead of just one tribe, he was given the right to be the father of two. Therefore, we chose 1 of his sons to represent him at REC. Chris chose his son Manasseh because he liked his name more. True story. Manasseh was Joseph’s firstborn son and his tribe settled in land on both sides of the Jordan River. Kyle Carter is a loyal Manasseh Fan … In fact, he loves Manasseh almost as much as he loves Taylor Swift. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Manasseh will be Dark Green.
- Benjamin was the 12th and final son of Israel. Israel adored his youngest son and named him Benjamin, which means “Son of my right hand”. In his blessing, Israel said that Benjamin would “devour his prey” and “divide the plunder”. Judges 20-21 records the tribe of Benjamin standing against the rest of the nation of Israel in a civil war. Important descendants of Benjamin were King Saul and the Apostle Paul. Cool story, Robin Wymer is 100% pulling for the Benji’s to win the victory. For Kamp 2019 Rec, Benji will be Yellow.
